Big sister’s job

Often I told Meiying that she is a big sister and she need to take good care of her brother. Well, like other sisters and brothers on the earth, they can be sweet and lovely play together, they also can be fighting with each other and swear would not play with each other again.
Often, Meiying plays with Alexander and make him as her doll. She and her friend would ask him to be their patient for their doctor game. She would teach him to run in the house like crazy when I was cooking. And both of them got many warnings before they stop. She would teach Alexander how to spell words and got mad if Alexander did not understand. I often had to remind her that Alexander is only three years old and can not spell words yet. She fights with Alexander when they all want the same thing. Most of time she cries and Alexander would say: “ha, ha, you lose.” Or “Who cares?” Well, Alexander usually was send back to his bedroom and got time out.

One day, I was working in the yard, I asked Meiying to take care of her younger brother. A half hour later, I finished yard work and check on kids. I saw two little kids were watching TV with wet hairs. I was wondering if they played with water. Then, I learned that Meiying gave her brother a bath and dressed him. She read him a book and watched TV with him.

When Meiying learned she is going to have another brother soon, she opened her eyes with big surprise and said: “ Woa! Alexander is already double troubles for me, two brothers!!! Mom! We will have 4 times of troubles!!! I will be busy and big sister’s job is getting more and more!!!” Then, she said: “it is ok, mom, after this baby is born, can you make sure the next one is a girl?” This time, I opened my eyes and said: “No! After this baby, I think we have enough kids in the family, we will not have more babies!”
I think I can picture how Meiying and Alexander will dress the younger brother, teach him how to spell, and lead him run in the house to make mom mad. Yap, big sisiter’s job is getting more fun.
