Clean the room

When I was young, my mother always had us to clean floor by kneeling down and mopping with clothing. We always had to clean the house before my mother came home from work. I was the youngest in the family, so I got the smallest area which was two bedrooms floor. I started to clean the floor at age six and until I was sixteen. I was not allowed to use floor mop. And I gained more chords with my age. But my bedroom was always the mystery spot.
I had stuff all over the room and only I know where to find things. Plus, I change my room style almost every year. My sisters would stay away from my room when she had friends come over.
Once, I had my room full with colorful strips wall paper, and ceiling, too. My sister would get dizzy if she stays in my room more than five minutes. Once, I had my drawings and paintings all over the wall and ceiling, and I felt like living in a cathedral. Once, I had all different oil lamps hanging on my ceiling, and my sister would not enter my room because she did not know how to explain how an oil lamp could drop on her head. My mother asked me to sleep at the corner to make her feel better. My oil lamps never drop on anybody, except one dropped and broke in pieces.
Now, I clean the floor the same old way. But, I do not change my bedroom style every year. I have great respect for my husband, so I only painted our bedroom pink once. Now it is green color.
When I kneel down to clean the kitchen floor, Alexander is always “helping” me to clean furniture, too. He usually uses a small wet clothing and kneel down to clean his toy cars and our sofa. If you are wondering why my kids kneeling down to clean floor, now you know the reason. If you come to my house and sit on a wet furniture, you know Alexander just finish his cleaning job. Well, these water marks add some texture on our sofa. We already plan to change our furniture when kids are no longer adding more colors by their colorful hands and feet.
I think they will discover the magic of floor mop when they grow up. For now, I prefer to keep the old cleaning system. Yesterday, Meiying put her art project in her room and asked us not to touch or change her room’s display. She wants every decoration in her room by her style. I can only pray - pray kids will not change their bedroom style every year. And I decided that I am going to teach them about color and safe design soon.
